Welcome to Synthient Sound.

I’m Cryss, an American mult-instrumentalist of nearly three decades with a background in both music performance and sound design.

Electric guitar has been my primary creative outlet for many years, but over time my love for synthesis has led me into new areas of sonic exploration. My passion for good tone has migrated from guitar strings to synthesis, with the goal of creating emotive textures through sound sets that inspire deeper, more meaningful songwriting.

My approach to synthesis is the same as my approach to a classic guitar; to blur the line between tool and tool-wielder by embracing the vibrations, give – and take – of the relationship between the two.

Together with Ben (my conventionally-monikered partner in crime), we aim to create sound sets that crack open our favorite analog and digital synthesizers, transforming them into true sources of inspiration for songwriting, soundtracks… or just fun.

Outside of the music world, we – Ben, my wife and I – volunteer our time to mentor, counsel and rehabilitate individuals with traumatic emotional and life difficulties through small community development. We want to make this world a better place; a place where people can experience joy while giving back to the world around them.

It is our desire for these synthient sounds to be a muse for the creative music that you bring into the world.

Describing the sounds we create as synthient refers to the goal of bringing the technology and circuits of synthesizers into a kind of sentience: a marriage of logic and feeling for the purpose of musical creation.
